Biography
I joined the NACP Team as the Climate Mate for the Bundaberg / Burnett Mary region recently and am excited to learn and share knowledge about climate and weather.
Born and raised in Germany, I hold a PhD in animal nutrition and have spent the majority of my career working in the feed industry. I have always enjoyed working hands-on with livestock, and my passion for agriculture has taken me to farms in Germany, Africa, the USA, and Australia, where I have experienced a variety of climates and challenges. In 2014, I moved to Australia, where we established a commercial breeder herd in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and grew lucerne in the Gympie area. During that time, I continued working in the agricultural industry, leading sustainability projects with industry stakeholders. My work included evaluating and modelling on-farm carbon footprints, as well as developing strategies to reduce on-farm greenhouse gas emissions. The climate and weather are fascinating subjects – particularly in Australia – and I am excited to learn as much as I can and share my knowledge with anyone who's eager to learn alongside me!
